Plastic is one of the essential commodity in the 21st century. Each and every product contain some amount of plastic. Widely we see that food packaging industry, Automobile Industry, and Construction Industry has used more amount of plastic as compared to other industry. Plastic has own advantage and disadvantage but for plastic always be the centre of a debate. In India usage of a plastic commodity not being a problem but disposal of plastic is a real problem.
Plastic used in the fiscal year 2017-2018
Everyone knows that India is still a developing stage because of that production of plastics every year increases. The rate of plastic processing in India is increasing by 10% to 15% according to a report by TATA Group (MMTP -Million Metric Tonne Per Annum). In a Fiscal year, 2015 estimated cost of processing was 1 lakh corers and per capita, consumption of plastic is 11kg and worldwide is 28kg.

If we compare India with other developed countries like USA, China, Europe India is far behind among them. At present per capita, consumption of USA is 109, Europe is 65, China is 38 and India is 11. In developed countries, such a huge quantity of plastic they used to generate energy, as well as the recycling rate of plastic is far better than India. The recycling rate in India is 2%.
